PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:

This weekend represents the final round of games before the season breaks for the school holidays. There is NO training next week or for the following 2 Mondays/Wednesdays and we resume training the week commencing 17 July.

The second half of the season will teams hopefully heading towards finals, but we will be having a number of events before we wrap up late September. Please note in your diaries:
26 August – this is the ANU/UC Club Day where 11 of the ANU and UC Men and Women teams play against each other and up for grabs is the Bunyip Trophy which UC is looking to claim for the first time. We have booked the BBQ for a sausage sizzle and we will be encouraging all our members from Hin2H to Under 18s to be involved throughout the day (wearing the UJHC playing uniform if possible).
2 September – Hook in2 Hockey/Game On – 2nd carnival (to be confirmed as it is scheduled to be at Willows, but Under 11s are on that day as well so field availability will be an issue)
9 September – this is the final Hook in2 Hockey/Game On session where we play our traditional Kids v Parents Game followed by presentations to and a free sausage sizzle for the players
9 September – Semi Finals and Grand Finals for Under 11s; Semi Finals for Under 13s – U18s
17 September – Grand Finals for Under 13-18s
21 September – Under 11 – 18 Presentation Night Ainslie Football Club
Finally the Club has engaged a photographer to take action shots and team photos over the reminder of the season – please see below for more details. Thanks Tamara for sourcing and organising Glenn.

In the meantime, enjoy your break and for those travelling have a safe and wonderful time away and come back fit and well for the resumption of the season next month.

Andrew Sutton
President

Each week, you will have the opportunity to read reports from previous weekend games. We ask that you please understand that reports can be written by players of all age groups & level of comprehension/grammar standards. Our job is to enjoy and celebrate the child standing up and publishing a reflection of something as powerful as sport.

U11/1 Boys
Another good win from the boys with a great effort from everyone to keep a clean sheet. The final score was 8-0 with four goals from Mehar and a fantastic hat trick from Jacko and the final goal from Decklan who was also celebrating his birthday. Fantastic defending from Alex, Makhaya and Brayden and also great goalkeeping from Angus for the clean sheet and great wing play from Reuben who covered a lot of the field. Best & fairest this week went to Jacko
– Thanks – Ethan

U11/2 Boys
The game went well. In the end we lost 0-1, but we had fun and all tried really hard. Charlie had a really good game in goals and stopped lots of shots from Marist. The first half was very even and at half time the scores were locked up at 0 – 0 . In the second half Marist scored one goal and then Finn and Owen were soooo close to scoring one for us! Never mind – we can’t wait for the next game.

U13/1 Girls
We had an amazing game Saturday morning. Everyone played really well and we won from Zoe’s amazing shot into goal, well done. Definitely in the second half we improved in things Dani pointed out and I noticed that all the girls have improved in what Dani and Ed have been teaching us at training and it’s looking good. You guys are fantastic hockey players and I couldn’t ask for a better team to be involved with.

U13/2 A Girls
We took on the Tuggeranong Vikings this week which is a good team. We got some constructive advice from our coach and we all played really well together with great passing and defending. The Vikings took the victory after a close match with only two minutes to go. The final score was 2-1. There was a great goal scored by Sadie in the first half and Brooke held their attack back by goalkeeping really well. Overall the team played a good game and even if we did lose, we learned a few things along the way.

U15/1 Girls
U15/1s girls had a 1-0 loss to Norths on Friday with very competitive play all game. Norths snuck a shot in just after half time, giving them the lead. Everyone played really well but the best and fairest votes went equally to Elizabeth and Lucy. Unfortunately a goal which would have evened the match was disallowed keeping us in second place on the ladder. Good job to everyone!

U15/2 B Girls
On a warm winters night in Tuggeranong, our great group of girls beat Darramalan 8-0. Dani scored 3 great goals, Astrid got 2, Paige 1, Abbey 1 and Nina also got 1. We did a great job getting the ball into the goal circle and defending the oppositions goal area. It was great to grab a win after the long weekend ?.

U18/1 Girls
The team had yet another weekend off, only having had four games this year, so we are itching to playSt Pats this weekend, before another 3 weekends off ☹️.

Photographing Players…..
As some of our U11 families noticed last weekend, we had our volunteer photographer Glenn Dando walk around the Willows Playing Fields taking action photos of our players. It is with a HUGE thank you to him for spending his free time supporting our club.

It will be assumed that you have agreed to our official Photographer “Glenn Dando” taking photos of players in all age groups throughout the year and especially toward the end of the season (purely for Year Book considerations). If you object in any way, please make immediate contact with either your Manager/Coach, Meredythe Crane (VP) or Andrew Sutton (President) throughout the year and before 1 September 2017.

We will organise a time when Glenn will be available to take individual team photos (with a schedule yet to be determined). We will advertise the “team photo session” through the newsletter and your Managers.
