2017 U15 State Representatives!
Good luck to all our U15 players (Lucy Jalland, Alyssa Hancock, Elizabeth Carter and Annie Burgess) who are in Moorebank NSW for just over a week week to compete in the State Nationals. We are very proud of each and everyone of you.
We also want to acknowledge Sarah Haines who was selected in the 2017 U18 State Representative team. Sarah will be travelling to Tasmania at the end of April.
Play hard but as always, as Uni Juniors do, Play Fair!
Costs surrounding our players to represent their state (& our club) can be quite exhausting. Rep players are always looking for personal sponsors to assist with their journey. Business’s who feel they would like their name against some of our rising stars, are encouraged to approach the players Parent, Coach, Andrew Sutton/Meredythe Crane or ACT Hockey.
Every little bit helps.
BUNNINGS BBQ!!
“Calling all Parents and Carers” of Uni Juniors Hockey Club.
It’s our annual Bunnings BBQ fundraiser and we need your help!!
Shifts available: 7:30am-10:30am, 10:30am-1:30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm
Please email me at communications@unijuniorshockey.com.au with the shift you are able to assist with (currently, I have received 5 offers).
I would hope to see our senior players offer and assist with a shift. Closed in shoes, hair tied back, Uni Ju’s playing top on and a happy and positive attitude are the only requirements!!
Our BBQ’s all inject healthy funds back into the club. Please dig deep and put your hand up for the opportunity to give back.
Really looking forward to hearing from you soon!!

2017 Outdoor Competition starts………….
Please be advised that the 2017 Outdoor competition is to commence Friday, April 28 (first Friday of Term 2). Please go HERE to see the HACT calendar. The draw will probably come out during the school holidays.
U15 teams will play Friday evenings, all U11’s, U13(G) and U18’s teams will play Saturday mornings and U13 BOYS – Sunday mornings.. Remembering we have two locations in Canberra, being Lyneham & Tuggeranong. Please always check your game location before you start your travel!!
ALL players need to be fully registered and have shinpads on before they step foot onto the field.
A mouthguard is also highly recommended.
Uni Juniors 2017 Umpire program
If your child has shown an interest in learning how to umpire a game of hockey, please make contact with our Vice President Meredythe Crane HERE . Meredythe will be able to assist you with further information on how your child can be involved.
also run a program throughout the season called “Joeys”. This is organised through Sue Watt and she can be contacted HERE.
We highly recommend those who have shown interest, invest some time to learn all there is to know about the rules of field hockey and to potentially, give back to the game through club umpire commitments each week. It can also prove to be a nice little way of earning a little extra!
In reference to junior umpires, we ask that our members (“sideline support crew”) continue to be the best around in regard to positive and supportive crowd behaviour. It can be very intimidating for the new comers to umpiring and we need to support their journey.

Has your son or daughter ever said that they want to try multiple sports? Are you looking for something exercise based for your children to do in the April School Holidays?
Over the 18th and 19th of April, Hockey ACT will be hosting the Sports Expo. For two days, participants (aged 7-15) will get to try their hand at several sports. All sports will be taught by qualified coaches in their field.
The Sports Expo presents a great opportunity for children who have always wanted to try a sport, or multiple sports, to try a whole range, whilst making new friends, in a fun and safe environment.
Hosted by Hockey ACT, the Sports Expo allows your child access to state of the art facilities, including 3 synthetic turfs, and a state of the art indoor hall.
Please go to: http://www.hockeyact.org.au/News/sports-expo-2 for all of the details on how to be involved.
Please support Bunnings by purchasing your Easter and School Holiday home maintenance items from them. They have a HUGE range and I challenge you to try and walk out empty handed!!
Bunnings Easter activities for the kids, please go to: / https://www.bunnings.com.au/our-services/in-store/kids-activities
This program is highly recommended and would be a valuable way for your child/ren/our Juniors to up skill during their school term break. A handful of Uni Juniors – senior players have trained 1:1 with Peta over the years and results from sessions have shown great development in each of the individual players.
